Data from: The Majority of Genotypes of the Virulence Gene inlA Are Intact among Natural Watershed Isolates of Listeria monocytogenes from the Central California Coast

    Internalin A is an essential virulence gene involved in the uptake of the foodborne pathogen *Listeria monocytogenes* into host cells. It is intact in clinical strains and often truncated due to Premature Stop Codons (PMSCs) in isolates from processed foods and processing facilities. Less information is known about environmental isolates. We sequenced the inlA alleles and did Multi Locus Variable Number Tandem Repeat Analysis (MLVA) on 112 *L. monocytogenes* isolates from a 3-year period from naturally contaminated watersheds near a leafy green growing area in Central California.

    USDA Dietary Guidelines Sentiment Analysis

      This dataset has all documents, the text and the pdf files as well as the code that was used to carry out the sentiment analysis on USDA DietaryGuidelines. The scope of the project and the resulting dataset uploaded here is carrying out the sentiment analysis on USDA dietary guidelines from 1980 till 2015 (released every 5 years). The motivation behind this project was the fact that recommendations regarding the different nutrients have changed over the years.

      Research, Education, and Economics Information System (REEIS)

        The Research, Education, and Economics Information System (REEIS) is a source of information on the research, education and extension programs, projects and activities of the U. S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA), the USDA Forest Service, the USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service, the U. S. Patent and Trademark Office, U. S. Census Bureau, and the U. S. National Science Foundation. The system enables users to measure the impact and effectiveness of research, extension and education programs based on data related to agricultural research; forestry research; students, faculty and degrees related to agriculture; USDA partner institution snapshots; Food and nutrition research; 4-H programs; and agricultural snapshots of each state. Internet links to related agencies, institutions, and data bases are also included.

        USDA National Nutrient Database for Standard Reference, Legacy Release

          The USDA National Nutrient Database for Standard Reference (SR) is the major source of food composition data in the United States and provides the foundation for most food composition databases in the public and private sectors. This is the last release of the database in its current format. SR-Legacy will continue its preeminent role as a stand-alone food composition resource and will be available in the new modernized system currently under development. SR-Legacy contains data on 7,793 food items and up to 150 food components that were reported in SR28 (2015), with selected corrections and updates. This release supersedes all previous releases.

            For researchers and application developers who want to utilize Summer meal site data, FNS provides an option to download a CSV (Comma Separated Values) file and also connect directly to an API (Application Program Interface) of the site.

            Sodium Monitoring Dataset

              The Agricultural Research Service of the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) in collaboration with other government agencies has a program to track changes in the sodium content of commercially processed and restaurant foods.               2015 USDA Farm To School Census Data Explorer Tool

                The Farm to School Census measures USDA's progress toward improving access to local foods in schools. The web-based interface allows users to run customized searches using data from the 2015 Farm to School Census.

                Local Food Compass Map

                  The dynamic Esri-based map interface shows USDA and other federal investments in local and regional food systems since 2009, along with data such as farmers markets, wholesale markets, green schools, food hubs, and meat processors. Users can explore the map to see what's happening in their own local community, or learn how others are using federal support to build local food systems. Boundary filters include tribal land, congressional district, county, and zipcode. State summary reports include program/project description, recipient, funding, and year. Resulting reports can be downloaded as comma-separated values (CSV) format to import into MS Excel or other spreadsheet application.
