Data from: Matrix Recharge of Vertic Forest Soil by Flooding

Experiment Overview We imposed artificial flooding on soil monoliths excavated intact from a forested Vertisol. The treatment monoliths were submerged in dyed and isotopically spiked water in short (3–4 days) versus long (31–32 days) artificial floods. After treatment, the monoliths were deconstructed to extract individual peds that were then analyzed for dye coverage, stable isotopic composition of soil water, moisture content, and organic matter content. Control monoliths were also deconstructed and analyzed for the same variables to quantify conditions prior to the artificial floods.
