Meta-data for Phenolic Compound Induction in Plant-Microbe and Plant-Insect Interactions

Meta-data from over 100 studies that examined induction of plant phenolic compounds following colonization by insects or microbial organisms (both pathogens and beneficials). This meta-data was used in a meta-analysis to observe that both insects and microbes consistently induce phenolic production. The meta-data covers publications that range from 2008 to 2017.

Intended Use
This dataset is to be used freely in future analyses, including meta-analyses, that can be performed on an occasional basis. As new manuscripts are published examining plant-insect and plant-microbe interactions, this meta-data can be included in novel, more up-to-date meta-analysis that cover beyond the limit of this dataset (the end of 2017). Likewise, different meta-analyses to examine other moderators can be performed with this data.
Use Limitations
The included meta-data is limited according to practical purposes. In particular, only one time-point per induction was selected (generally the maximum response), and co-inductions were not included as meta-data (e.g. cases whereby two organisms colonized a plant at the same time).
