This data was collected and published by University of Georgia's Statewide Variety Testing program from 2016-2019. It consists of experimental (non-regulated) and commercially-released corn hybrids entered by seed companies. Tests were conducted at 4 university-owned farms each year (5 total locations during period) throughout Georgia, and include environments from the lower Coastal Plain to the southern Appalachians. Locations include Blairsville, Rome, Griffin or Athens (Watkinsville) and Tifton. Not all hybrids appear in all environments in a given year. The number of years a hybrid was tested varies since their inclusion is determined by the respective seed company. Soil types differ between locations. Initial soil fertility for P and K is categorized, and actual rates of applied fertilizer are listed. Applied fertilizer rates were chosen to support a yield goal slightly above the maximum observed at the site in previous years. In most cases, the tests were harvested later than the optimum (30-35% dry matter) for silage production.
