The Northern Region (R1) of the U.S. Forest Service uses ArcGIS Online to share maps, data, and applications for use by other federal agencies, partners, and the public. This gallery displays some of the web map applications developed by the Region and our Forests.
The Pacific Northwest Region (Region 6) of the US Forest Service contains 17 National Forests, two National Scenic Areas, a National Grassland, and two National Volcanic Monuments, all within the States of Oregon and Washington. These national forests provide timber for people, forage for cattle and wildlife, habitat for fish, plants, and animals, and some of the finest recreation lands in the country. This database contains links to the Pacific Northwest Forests with GIS data currently available online.
The Columbia River Basin provides habitat for salmon and steelhead, essential components of a healthy ecosystem and critical to Indian tribes and local communities. Loss of quality habitat because of pressures from population growth threaten fish numbers and the overall health of the basin. With this Critical Conservation Area designation, USDA will build on existing strong partnerships in the basin to work with agricultural producers to improve water quality and quantity in order to restore critical components of salmon habitat, aid in the recovery of Pacific salmon, and protect public health and the environment while maintaining a strong agricultural sector. The boundary of the CCA is a portion of the Columbia River Basin that includes essential fish habitat. This dataset includes a printer-friendly CCA map and shapefiles for GIS.

The Nutrient Uptake and Outcomes (NUOnet) database will be able to help establish baselines on nutrient use efficiencies; processes contributing to nutrient losses; and processes contributing to optimal crop yield, nutritional and organoleptic quality. This national database could be used to calculate many different environmental indicators from a comprehensive understanding of nutrient stocks and flows.

Feedstock Readiness Level (FSRL) evaluation: Triticum aestivum (wheat straw), Alcohol-to-Jet, Northwest, May 2017
Feedstock readiness level evaluations are performed for a specific feedstock-conversion process combination and for a particular region. FSRL evaluations complement evaluations of Fuel Readiness Level (FRL) and environmental progress. The data from this evaluation, compiled in May 2017, assesses the maturity of Triticum aestivum (wheat straw), as a feedstock for the Alcohol-to-Jet conversion process in the United States Northwest region.
