Ag Data Commons migration begins October 18, 2023

The Ag Data Commons is migrating to a new platform – an institutional portal on Figshare. Starting October 18 the current system will be available for search and download only. Submissions will resume after the launch of our portal on Figshare in November. Stay tuned for details!

FSGeodata Clearinghouse

The USDA Forest Service Geodata Clearinghouse is an online collection of digital data related to forest resources. Through the Clearinghouse you can find datasets related to forests and grasslands, including boundaries and ownership, natural resources, roads and trails, as well as datasets related to State and private forested areas, including insect and disease threat and surface water importance. You can also find downloadable map products, raster data, and links to other sources of forest resource information.

Farm Service Agency Aerial Photography Imagery Products and Programs

APFO is home to one of the country's largest aerial film libraries. We currently house more than 70,000 rolls of film (10 million plus images). Our film dates from 1955 to the present. We have coverage of most of the United States and its territories. Historic aerial images play a more vital role today than ever before with environmental assessments, change detection, and property boundary disputes.

      Geospatial Data Gateway

The Geospatial Data Gateway (GDG) provides access to a map library of over 100 high resolution vector and raster layers in the Geospatial Data Warehouse. It is the one stop source for environmental and natural resource data, available anytime, from anywhere. It allows a user to choose an area of interest, browse and select data, customize the format, then download or have it shipped on media. The map layers include data on: Public Land Survey System (PLSS), Census data, demographic statistics, precipitation, temperature, disaster events, conservation easements, elevation, geographic names, geology, government units, hydrography, hydrologic units, land use and land cover, map indexes, ortho imagery, soils, topographic images, and streets and roads.

Agricultural Conservation Planning Framework (ACPF) Database

Spatial data on soils, land use, and topography, combined with knowledge of conservation effectiveness can be used to identify alternatives to reduce nutrient discharge from small watersheds. This database was developed to be used in conjunction with the Agricultural Conservation Planning Framework Toolkit. Data comprise soil survey information and land use.

Sample of Mandan, North Dakota Aerial Image Dataset

Originally produced by the Farm Security Administration, these are georeferenced aerial images from Morton County, North Dakota. Historic print images housed at the Mandan, North Dakota ARS Long-Term Agricultural Research facility were digitized, georeferenced, and processed for use in both professional and consumer level GIS applications, or in photo-editing applications. The original images were produced by the Farm Security Administration to monitor government compliance for farm land agreements. Current applications include assessing land use change over time with regard to erosion, land cover, and natural and man-made structures. Not for use in high precision applications.
