Cassavabase

    The Next Generation Cassava Breeding (NEXTGEN Cassava) project aims to significantly increase the rate of genetic improvement in cassava breeding and unlock the full potential of cassava, a staple crop central to food security and livelihoods across Africa. The project will implement and empirically test a new breeding method known as Genomic Selection that relies on statistical modeling to predict cassava performance before field-testing, and dramatically accelerates the breeding cycle.

    MaizeGDB

      MaizeGDB is a community-oriented, long-term, federally funded informatics service to researchers focused on the crop plant and model organism Zea mays. Genomic, genetic, sequence, germplasm, gene product, metabolic pathways, functional characterization, literature reference, diversity, and expression are among the datatypes stored at MaizeGDB. At the project's website are custom interfaces enabling researchers to browse data and to seek out specific information matching explicit search criteria. First released in 1991 with the name MaizeDB, the Maize Genetics and Genomics Database, now MaizeGDB (since 2003), is funded, developed, and hosted by the USDA-ARS located at Ames, Iowa.

        Legume Information System

          The Legume Information System ([legumeinfo.org](https://legumeinfo.org "Legume Information System")) is the USDA-ARS genetics and genomics database for legume crops and relatives. Researchers can also submit their data directly. LIS houses data for more than a dozen species such as common bean and chickpea, peanut, and soybean, with genome sequences, genes and predicted functions, families of related genes, views of evolutionary relationships between genomic regions, genetic maps, markers, and links to germplasm resources.

          Homalodisca vitripennis genome annotations v0.5.3

            The *Homalodisca vitripennis* genome was recently sequenced and annotated as part of the i5k pilot project by the Baylor College of Medicine. This dataset presents the *Homalodisca vitripennis* genome v1.0. This assembly version is the pre-release version, prior to filtering and quality control by the National Center for Biotechnology Information's GenBank resource.

              Data from: Soil Water Holding Capacity Mitigates Downside Risk and Volatility in US Rainfed Maize: Time to Invest in Soil Organic Matter?

                This dataset includes county-level annual data on maize (Zea mays L.) yield, soil physical and chemical characteristics, and mean weather data for 2000 through 2014 for IL, MI, MN and PA. The data were aggregated from public databases, including NASS Quick Stats, NOAA Climate Data Online, and the USDA-NRCS Web Soil Survey. U.S. counties were the experimental unit for this study, and all data are county-level averages. Covariances among county-level maize yield stability and environmental variability were analyzed using structural equation models (SEM) and linear mixed effects (LME) models.

                CropScape - Cropland Data Layer

                  The Cropland Data Layer (CDL), hosted on CropScape, provides a raster, geo-referenced, crop-specific land cover map for the continental United States. The CDL also includes a crop mask layer and planting frequency layers, as well as boundary, water and road layers. The Boundary Layer options provided are County, Agricultural Statistics Districts (ASD), State, and Region. The data is created annually using moderate resolution satellite imagery and extensive agricultural ground truth.

                  GEOGLAM (GEO Global Agricultural Monitoring) Crop Assessment Tool

                    The Group on Earth Observations, a partnership of governments and international organizations, developed the Global Agricultural Monitoring (GEOGLAM) initiative in response to the growing calls for improved agricultural information. The goal of GEOGLAM is to strengthen the international community’s capacity to produce and disseminate relevant, timely and accurate forecasts of agricultural production at national, regional and global scales through the use of Earth Observations (EO), which include satellite and ground-based observations. This initiative is designed to build on existing agricultural monitoring programs and initiatives at national, regional and global levels and to enhance and strengthen them through international networking, operationally focused research, and data/method sharing.
