Complete Data and Analysis for: Fungicide Effectiveness on Soybean Rust in the Southeastern United States 2004-2014: A Meta-Analysis

Soybean rust is a concern to soybean growers and management of soybean rust primarily depends on disease scouting and the timely use of fungicides. The goal of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of fungicide-use through a quantitative meta-analysis of data compiled from published and unpublished soybean fungicide trials across the southern United States from 2004 to 2014. The data included in this repository includes the complete dataset as a comma-separated-value file and all Program R code necessary to replicate the data processing, analysis, and graphing.

Environmental Association Analyses Identify Candidates for Abiotic Stress Tolerance in Glycine soja, the Wild Progenitor of Cultivated Soybeans

The present study explores an ex situ conservation collection, the USDA germplasm collection, genotyped at 32,416 SNPs, to identify population structure and test for associations with bioclimatic and biophysical variables in Glycine soja, the wild progenitor of Glycine max (soybean). Candidate loci were detected that putatively contribute to adaptation to abiotic stresses.

Manure application methods for alfalfa-grass

The MAMA experiment (Manure Application Methods for Alfalfa-Grass), from the USDA-ARS research station in Marshfield, WI was designed to evaluate nutrient and pathogen losses with conventional and improved liquid dairy manure management practices for alfalfa-grass production. Observations from MAMA have also been used for parameterization and validation of computer simulation models of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from dairy farms.

Data from: Defensive aphid symbiont Hamiltonella defensa effects on Aphelinus glycinis and Aphelinus atriplicis

Aphelinus glycinis was collected in the Peoples Republic of China under a Memorandum of Understanding between their Ministry of Agriculture and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). Aphelinus atriplicis was collected by employees of the USDA, Agricultural Research Service (ARS), in the Republic of Georgia with the permission of that government. The parasitoids were imported into the USDA, ARS, Beneficial Insect Introductions Research Unit containment facility in Newark, Delaware, under permits from the USDA, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (Permit Numbers P526P-08-02142 and P526P-09-01929). No specific permissions were required to collect Aphis craccivora or Acyrthosiphon pisum because these are cosmopolitan aphids that occur in the field throughout North America. None of the species collected or studied are endangered or protected.

Cover Crop Chart (version 2.0): Helping producers choose cover crops in crop and forage production systems

The Cover Crop Chart (v. 2.0) is designed to assist producers with decisions on the use of cover crops in crop and forage production systems. The chart, patterned after the periodic table of elements, includes information on 58 crop species that may be planted individually or in cocktail mixtures. Information on growth cycle, relative water use, plant architecture, seeding depth, forage quality, pollination characteristics, and nutrient cycling are included for most crop species.
