Functional annotation for 15 diverse arthropod genomes

We present the annotation results of 15 arthropod proteomes using an open source, open access and containerized pipeline for genome-scale functional annotation of insect proteomes and apply it to a diverse range of arthropod species.

De novo transcriptome assembly of Schizaphis gramium Biotype I feeding on wheat

Transcriptome was generated from pooled adult aphids that were fed on wheat plants containing the Dn4 and DN7 resistance gene as well as Yuma plants containing no resistant genes (Dn0). The assembly was generated using Trinity. All assembled transcripts, including those that were not predicted to encode ORFs, are included along with their corresponding functional annotations from Trinotate.

Genes of viral origin in the Cotesia vestalis genome

Cotesia vestalis (Haliday) is a braconid wasp (subfamily Microgastrinae) and biological control agent of the diamondback moth Plutella xylostella. C. vestalis belongs to a group of wasps known as the "microgastroid complex" that produces bracoviruses. Genes encoding bracovirus proteins are integrated into the wasp genome. Screens for viral genes in the wasp genome revealed genes of viral origin from a second type of virus. Manual annotation of viral genes and phylogenetic analysis revealed that C. vestalis has independently acquired integrated endogenous virus elements related to the Leptopilina boulardi filamentous virus.

Oncopeltus fasciatus hybrid genome assembly 1.0

The milkweed bug, *Oncopeltus fasciatus*, was sequenced as part of the i5k pilot project from Baylor College of Medicine (Illumina data). To augment those resources, we present here a hybrid genome assembly with low coverage PacBio data, assembled with PBJelly: the *Oncopeltus fasciatus* Hybrid Genome Assembly v1.0.
