Ag Data Commons migration begins October 18, 2023

The Ag Data Commons is migrating to a new platform – an institutional portal on Figshare. Starting October 18 the current system will be available for search and download only. Submissions will resume after the launch of our portal on Figshare in November. Stay tuned for details!

NASS Data Visualization

NASS Data Visualization provides a dynamic web query interface supporting searches by Commodity (e.g. Cotton, Corn, Farms & Land, Grapefruit, Hogs, Oranges, Soybeans, Wheat), Statistic type (automatically refreshed based upon choice of Commodity - e.g. Inventory, Head, Acres Planted, Acres Harvested, Production, Yield) to generate chart, table, and map visualizations by year (2001-2016), as well as a link to download the resulting data in CSV format compatible for updating databases and spreadsheets.

    Manure application methods for alfalfa-grass

The MAMA experiment (Manure Application Methods for Alfalfa-Grass), from the USDA-ARS research station in Marshfield, WI was designed to evaluate nutrient and pathogen losses with conventional and improved liquid dairy manure management practices for alfalfa-grass production. Observations from MAMA have also been used for parameterization and validation of computer simulation models of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from dairy farms.

Data from: Defensive aphid symbiont Hamiltonella defensa effects on Aphelinus glycinis and Aphelinus atriplicis

*Aphelinus glycinis* was collected in the Peoples Republic of China under a Memorandum of Understanding between their Ministry of Agriculture and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). *Aphelinus atriplicis* was collected by employees of the USDA, Agricultural Research Service (ARS), in the Republic of Georgia with the permission of that government. The parasitoids were imported into the USDA, ARS, Beneficial Insect Introductions Research Unit containment facility in Newark, Delaware, under permits from the USDA, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (Permit Numbers P526P-08-02142 and P526P-09-01929). No specific permissions were required to collect *Aphis craccivora* or *Acyrthosiphon pisum* because these are cosmopolitan aphids that occur in the field throughout North America. None of the species collected or studied are endangered or protected.

        Legume Information System

The Legume Information System ([legumeinfo.org](https://legumeinfo.org "Legume Information System")) is the USDA-ARS genetics and genomics database for legume crops and relatives. Researchers can also submit their data directly. LIS houses data for more than a dozen species such as common bean and chickpea, peanut, and soybean, with genome sequences, genes and predicted functions, families of related genes, views of evolutionary relationships between genomic regions, genetic maps, markers, and links to germplasm resources.

Sustainable Corn CAP Research Data (USDA-NIFA Award No. 2011-68002-30190)

The Sustainable Corn CAP (Cropping Systems Coordinated Agricultural Project: Climate Change, Mitigation, and Adaptation in Corn-based Cropping Systems) was a multi-state transdisciplinary project supported by the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture (Award No. 2011-68002-30190). Research experiments were located through the U.S. Corn Belt and examined farm-level adaptation practices for corn-based cropping systems to current and predicted impacts of climate change.

SoyBase and the Soybean Breeder's Toolbox

SoyBase is a repository for genetics, genomics and related data resources for soybean. It contains current genetic, physical and genomic sequence maps integrated with qualitative and quantitative traits.

Agricultural Conservation Planning Framework (ACPF) Database

Spatial data on soils, land use, and topography, combined with knowledge of conservation effectiveness can be used to identify alternatives to reduce nutrient discharge from small watersheds. This database was developed to be used in conjunction with the Agricultural Conservation Planning Framework Toolkit. Data comprise soil survey information and land use.
