The Ogallala Agro-Climate Tool

    The Ogallala Agro-Climate Tool is a Visual Basic application that estimates irrigation demand and crop water use over the Ogallala Aquifer region.

    NorWeST Stream Temperature Regional Database and Model

      The NorWeST webpage hosts stream temperature data and climate scenarios in a variety of user-friendly digital formats for streams and rivers across the western U.S. Temperature data and model outputs, registered to NHDPlus stream lines, are posted to the website after QA/QC procedures and development of the final temperature model within a river basin.

      USDA-ARS Colorado Maize Water Productivity Dataset 2012-2013

        The USDA-Agricultural Research Service carried out an experiment on water productivity in response to seasonal timing of irrigation of maize (*Zea mays* L.) at the Limited Irrigation Research Farm (LIRF) facility in northeastern Colorado (40°26’ N, 104°38’ W) starting in 2012. Twelve treatments involved different water availability targeted at specific growth-stages. This dataset includes data from the first two years, which were complete years with intact treatments. Data includes canopy growth and development (canopy height, canopy cover and LAI), irrigation, precipitation, and soil water storage measured periodically through the season; daily estimates of crop evapotranspiration; and seasonal measurement of crop water use, harvest index and crop yield. Hourly and daily weather data are also provided from the CoAgMET, Colorado’s network of meteorological information.

        Rocky Mountain Region (Region 2) Geospatial Data

          Our geographic area of responsibility covers Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Wyoming. The datasets presented here are derived from the USFS Land Status Records System (LSRS) and the USFS infrastructure database (Infra), and other current projects of a region wide nature, then processed using ArcMap and Google™ Earth Pro.

          NRCS Regional Conservation Partnership Program - Prairie Grasslands Region

            One of the most threatened ecosystems in North America, native prairie and grasslands contained within the Prairie Grasslands Region are essential habitat for a number of wild game and threatened species, including the lesser prairie chicken and sage grouse. The region also encompasses the Red River Basin of the North and the Ogallala Aquifer—areas that are facing critical conservation needs on working lands from frequent flooding and ponding (in the north) to prolonged drought and aquifer decline (in the Ogallala). This dataset includes a printer-friendly CCA map and shapefiles for GIS.

            NRCS Regional Conservation Partnership Program - Colorado River Basin

              Irrigated agriculture is vitally important to the economy and quality of life in many areas of the Colorado River Basin. It also accounts for a significant share of the basin’s existing water use, shared among 33 million people in the United States plus 3 million in Mexico. Faced with historic drought conditions and water supply pressures, farmers, ranchers, Indian tribes and other water users are in urgent need of accelerated conservation on working agricultural lands. This dataset includes a printer-friendly CCA map and shapefiles for GIS.

              GRACEnet Soil Biology Network

                The GRACEnet Soil Biology mission is to produce the soil biology data, including methods of identifying and quantifying specific organisms and processes they govern, that are needed to evaluate impacts on agroecosystems and sustainable agricultural practices.

                NUOnet (Nutrient Use and Outcome Network) database

                  The Nutrient Uptake and Outcomes (NUOnet) database will be able to help establish baselines on nutrient use efficiencies; processes contributing to nutrient losses; and processes contributing to optimal crop yield, nutritional and organoleptic quality. This national database could be used to calculate many different environmental indicators from a comprehensive understanding of nutrient stocks and flows.
