A Survey to Evaluate the Current Status of Land Grant University and State Department of Agriculture Soil Fertility Recommendations and Analytical Methods
Results of a survey to collect contemporary information from our land-grant university colleagues working in soil fertility. The goals of the survey were to gain a better understanding of the current status of soil testing across the U.S. to inform future collaborative efforts among states and regions, and to identify where opportunities exist to harmonize recommendation guidelines. The objectives were to collect information about state soil test recommendations, fertilization philosophy, analytical methods, and the provenance of correlation and calibration data that support soil-test-based recommendations.

Soybean Yield Response to Fertilizer-Phosphorus Rate on Soils having different Mehlich-3 Phosphorus Values in Arkansas
Soybean response to fertilizer-phosphorus (P) fertilization experiments were conducted at 39 sites in Arkansas from 2004-2018 with the main objective of developing data to correlate and calibrate fertilizer-P rate recommendations for irrigated soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.] in Arkansas. The dataset includes information for 39 site-years representing eight eastern Arkansas counties including Arkansas (4), Clay (1), Cross (3), Desha (2), Lee (4), Poinsett (9), St. Francis (15), and Woodruff (1).

Legacy Phosphorus and Potassium Correlation Experiments: Qulin, Missouri
Correlation experiments for P and K were conducted from 1968-1973 at a research farm in Qulin, Missouri to better define the relationships between soil tests, crop yields, and fertilizer treatments. Three crop rotations each were conducted for P and K trials (ranges C, D, E, F, G, and H), and included corn, soybean, wheat, cotton, and sorghum.
On-Farm Residue Removal Study for Resilient Economic Agricultural Practices in Morris, Minnesota
Interest in harvesting crop residues for energy has waxed and waned since the oil embargo of 1973. Since the at least the late 1990’s interest has been renewed due to concern of peak oil, highly volatile natural gas prices, replacing fossil fuel with renewable sources and a push for energy independence. The studies conducted on harvesting crop residues during the 1970’s and1980’s focused primarily on erosion risk and nutrient removal as a result early estimates of residue availability focused on erosion control.
LandPKS (Land Potential Knowledge System): Mobile App for Extension, Land-Use and Project Planning, M&E and On-Farm Research
**LandPKS** comprises a free modular mobile phone app connected to cloud-based storage, global databases, and models, downloadable from Google Play or the iTunes App Store; a system for storing and accessing user data; and a system for sharing data, information and knowledge. LandPKS is being developed to help users determine the sustainable potential of their land, including its restoration potential, based on its unique soil, topography and climate. The land potential assessments will be updated based on new evidence regarding the success or failure of new management and restoration systems on different soils.
